Kamal Fernandez is an internationally recognised dog trainer, behaviour specialist, and founder of Kamal Fernandez Online Training. With decades of experience, he’s worked with some of the most challenging behaviour cases, specialising in aggression and rehabilitation.
Kamal’s journey began in 1990 with Scrunch, a free-spirited Chow-Chow mix whose independent streak presented every challenge imaginable: running away, resource guarding, nervous aggression. Determined to build a bond rather than enforce obedience,
Kamal developed an approach rooted in understanding drive, motivation, and root cause, not just managing symptoms.
That foundation has shaped everything he does today.
He’s the author of Pathway to Positivity and Relabelling Reactivity, and his expertise has taken him to stages worldwide, from the Lemonade Conference for FDSA to the Victoria Stillwell Bite Prevention Conference. UK audiences may recognise him from The One Show, Dogs Behaving Badly, and most recently, Channel 4’s The Dog Academy. He’s also competed, judged, and stewarded at Crufts.
As a guest contributor to The ProDog Blog, Kamal writes on reactivity, the diet-behaviour connection, socialisation, and training philosophy. His work consistently returns to one principle: education begins at the root of behaviour. He also provides animal talent for television and shares his life with a Belgian Malinois, Border Collie, German Spitz, Boxer, and rescue Jack Russell cross named Sugarpuff.
