Pure Range Frozen Minces

Precision feeding, your way. Our Pure raw dog food range is built for custom feeders. Whether you’re supporting a dog with allergies, on an elimination diet, or prefer to build the bowl yourself, this range delivers all the foundational elements. Most recipes follow an 80/10/10 prey model: 80% muscle meat, 10% ground bone, 10% offal. But not all dogs thrive on the same ratios, so we’ve added a boneless option for greater flexibility. Simply defrost, then personalise with veg, fruit, supplements, and toppers to suit your dog’s needs.

Available in 500g and 1kg tubs. Suitable for dogs aged 24 weeks+
*Beef with Green Tripe is our boneless option.

What are FEDIAF guidelines?

FEDIAF is the organisation which sets out the nutritional guidelines for all pet food in Europe. FEDIAF nutritional guidelines consist of recommended nutrient levels for pet foods based on scientific review of vast numbers of peer-reviewed pet food nutrition studies.

The recommendations provide minimum and maximum nutrient levels needed to prevent deficiencies from developing or nutrient toxicity from occurring. Whilst the guidelines are voluntary recommendations, as opposed to legal requirements, we chose to tweak our recipes to meet the standards to offer you even more nutritional quality assurance.

As a dog owner, this means that by feeding ProDog Complete Formula or Puppy Formula raw meals, you can feel confident you are providing the building blocks necessary for optimal canine health.

Whilst FEDIAF guidelines lay out recommended nutrient levels, they do not differentiate between synthetic and wholefood forms of those nutrients. Our expert nutritional team is committed to ensuring every ingredient in ProDog products are from wholefood sources because nutrients taken from natural sources are far more bioavailable and digested more effectively than synthetic ones. Ultimately, this means we are confident the nutrient content of our food is easily absorbed and assimilated by the canine digestive system, therefore exceeding FEDIAF minimal expectations, with the aim of ensuring your dog truly thrives.

What does DEFRA approved mean?

ProDog Raw is registered with the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, which means that we must adhere to specific legislation concerning raw food manufacturing. Read more on what it means to be DEFRA approved.

Is frozen raw meat safe for dogs?

It is perfectly safe if you buy your frozen food from a reputable raw dog food supplier, like ProDog, especially when you follow the preparation and handling instructions.

You should always be mindful of standard hygiene precautions when handling raw meat, whether for human or pet consumption. It is advisable to check your raw food supplier has the appropriate accreditations to confirm compliance with a high level of food safety.

ProDog is certified by UK Pet Food under their raw pet food scheme and is also approved by DEFRA (Department of Farming and Rural Affairs). This means a strict code of practice is adhered to, assuring quality and safety.

Not only is raw safe, but it is also a highly beneficial diet for your dog’s health. If you’re thinking of switching your dog to a raw fed diet, or just want to know where to begin with raw feeding, then follow the links to our expert guides.

Do you have to defrost raw dog food?

We freeze our food at -18 degrees centigrade to retain the ingredients’ nutritional composition and ensure a safe temperature is maintained throughout delivery.

Frozen food should be stored in the freezer until needed. Ideally, defrost in the fridge overnight before feeding your dog, and use it within three days. It is, however, OK to feed if the food is not fully defrosted at mealtime, although some dogs struggle with very cold food. Alternatively, you could submerge in tepid water for a few minutes to speed up the thawing process.

Once raw meat for dogs reaches room temperature, it should not be frozen again. Partially frozen food that is still cool to the touch can be frozen. Use the back of your hand to test the temperature if you do not have a food thermometer.
