When Crumpet joined Lotti Huxter’s family at 10 weeks old, his battles with food were impossible to ignore. A finicky eater from the start, he turned his nose up at kibble—no matter the brand or the enticing additions. Lotti recalled,
“I tried everything: chicken, cheese, yoghurt, you name it. He’d eat a new food for two days, then stop. I had cupboards full of wasted bags of kibble.”
At just 15 weeks old, Crumpet’s health took a dramatic downturn. After swallowing stones, he developed severe diarrhoea and vomiting. Misdiagnosed at first, his condition worsened until an X-ray revealed a dangerous stomach blockage. Emergency surgery saved his life, but recovery wasn’t smooth. Infection, stitches, and repeated vet visits left Crumpet weak and underweight.
Reflecting on that challenging time, Lotti said,
“He looked so thin, his coat was dull, and he had no energy. People kept commenting on how poorly he looked. I knew something had to change.”
