Traditional mince pies might be off-limits for dogs, but don’t worry—Hannah’s favourite festive, dog-friendly alternative means your furry friend won’t miss out on the Christmas treats!
375g almond or coconut flour
260g unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg, plus 1 beaten egg for glazing
A couple of apples
A handful of blackberries
Some cranberries
Two orange segments, finely chopped
Desiccated coconut
Place 375g almond or coconut flour and 260g softened unsalted butter in a bowl. Rub together to a crumb-like consistency. Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Add 1 large beaten egg and mix together until combined, and the flour mixture becomes mouldable.
Tip out onto a lightly floured surface and fold until the pastry comes together. Be careful not to over-mix. Then roll out your pastry until it’s at least 3mm thick.
Cut out circles for the mince pies (don’t forget to cut out lids as well!). Grease the inside of the tins with a baton of unsalted butter to prevent sticking.
Place your pastry into muffin tins (without lids or filling) and pre-bake for 6-8 minutes. Keep checking the pastry as you don’t want to cook it completely—just enough for the pastry to be touch-dry to ensure the bottom won’t be soggy and will be fully cooked.
Once the bottom half of your pastry is ready, add the chopped apples, orange, cranberry, and blackberry mix into the pies. Glaze around the edges of the pastry lids with a beaten egg to allow the lids to stick. Bake until slightly golden brown and the lids are dry to the touch.
Allow to cool and let your dog enjoy!

A festive pudding jelly that dogs go wild for! Made with ProDog’s bone broth, nutrient-dense offal, hearty veggies, and a dash of fennel, this nourishing, dog-safe ‘Blancmange’ loaf is a holiday hit.
A ProDog bone broth flavour of your choice,
Six Brussel sprouts
A couple of broccoli florets
One parsnip
Carrot shavings (optional)
Some finely chopped fennel
Bee pollen (a teaspoon will do!)
A small loaf tin for the mould
Lamb/chicken hearts pieces, roughly chopped
Organic, cold pressed Coconut oil (for gently searing the lamb/chicken hearts)
Defrost the ProDog bone broth pouch of choice and set aside to defrost. While your bone broth is defrosting nicely, it’s time to move onto the prep!
Start by gently steaming your sprouts, parsnip and broccoli florets until they are just starting to soften.
One your vegetables are soft enough, roughly chop up and place in a separate bowl for later on.
In a pan, start to gently melt some organic coconut oil, keeping it on a low to medium heat. Add your chopped hearts of choice. (Don’t go overboard with the amount of heart you’re including). Gently sear until there’s a nice even colouring, you’re not aiming for them to be fully cooked.
Finely chop some fennel, to add into the mix.
With some partially melted coconut oil, you can pre-grease the loaf tin to help the bone broth come back out of the mould once set.
Now that your bone broth is defrosted, it’s time for the fun part – putting everything together! Pour your bone broth into your loaf tin, and add all of your components, giving everything a good mix.
Once everything is mixed, pop your tin into the fridge to re solidify, preferably over night.
Now that your pudding jelly is set, it’s ready to come out of the mould, to be sliced and served to your dog/s.
