About the Run

Start the festival weekend the way your dog would choose to: running along the Weston-Super-Mare seafront, with the coast ahead of you and a good cause behind every stride.

The fun run takes place on the morning of 15 & 16 August, before the main festival opens. Whether you are an experienced canicross runner, a first-time 1km walker, or anything in between, there is a distance for you.

The 1km and 3km routes are open to all abilities, including walkers and those new to canicross. The 5km is recommended for experienced runners only. If you are new to running with your dog, it’s advisable to start with the shorter distances.

All runners welcome, with or without a dog!

Raising Money

Every participant is encouraged to set up a personal fundraising page and collect sponsorship from friends, family, and colleagues. All money raised goes directly to the North Somerset RSPCA and Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary, two charities doing vital rescue and rehoming work for dogs locally.

Raise £50 or more and receive a limited-edition ProDog Beach Fest 2026 running tee.

Top fundraisers will be recognised with prizes and celebrated on the day.

Running With Your Dog

This is a canicross event and the safety of every dog on the course is the priority. The following requirements apply to all participants running with a dog. Please read carefully before registering.

Welfare and Conditions

Dog participation is dependent on conditions on the day. Wet bulb temperature readings will be monitored throughout the morning. If conditions present any risk to canine health, dog participation will be withdrawn and the run will continue as a human-only event.

Eligibility

One dog per adult participant.

Dogs must not be in season.

Minimum age 12 months for all breeds.

Minimum age 18 months for large and giant breeds.

Brachycephalic breeds are not permitted due to the risk of breathing difficulties and overheating. This is a firm welfare requirement and cannot be waived.

Children under 13 participating must be accompanied by adult.

Required Equipment

Y-front harness. Collars are not permitted.

Bungee lead attached to a runner’s waist belt. Hand-held leads are not permitted.

Water for both runner and dog.

Don’t have the right kit? You can purchase a Y-front harness and bungee lead here: www.nonstopdogwear.com.

On the Day

Attendance at the 7:45am safety briefing is mandatory for all participants.

All instructions from event staff and stewards must be followed at all times.

Any dog showing signs of distress, overheating, or discomfort will be withdrawn from the course. This decision rests with the welfare team and is final.

A confirmation email will follow with everything you need for the morning.
